Traumapädagogik für ukrainische Schulen 2024
Das Projekt „Traumapädagogik für ukrainische Schulen“ ist eine Initiative von Dialogue for Understanding e.V. (D4U, Deutschland) und der Agentur für die Entwicklung der Bildungspolitik (AEPD, Ukraine). Ziel ist es, ukrainische Kinder und Lehrkräfte im Kontext des umfassenden Krieges zu unterstützen, den Russland gegen die Ukraine führt. Das Projekt wird durch das deutsche Auswärtige Amt gefördert und in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Warschauer Bildungsbüro umgesetzt.
Hauptziele und Aufgaben des Projekts:
- Ausbildung von Schulpsycholog:innen und Lehrkräften im traumasensiblen Umgang
- Stärkung von Lehrkräften und Schulpsycholog:innen als Multiplikator:innen, die das Wissen über traumasensiblen Umgang an ihren Schulen weitergeben
- Aufbau einer Gemeinschaft von traumasensiblen Lehrkräften
- Umfassende Unterstützung ukrainischer Kinder in Kriegszeiten durch die genannten Maßnahmen

Projektphasen:
Im September 2023 fand das erste Treffen statt, bei dem ukrainische und deutsche Expert:innen aus den Bereichen Psychologie und Traumaarbeit ihre Erfahrungen teilten. Gemeinsam wurde ein Schulungsprogramm für ukrainische Lehrkräfte und Schulpsychologen im traumasensiblen Umgang entwickelt.
Im Jahr 2024 nahmen Lehrkräfte aus 75 Bildungseinrichtungen verschiedener Regionen der Ukraine an Schulungen zum Thema traumasensible Bildung in Warschau teil. Nach ihrer Rückkehr organisierten sie Informationsveranstaltungen an ihren Schulen.
Was bedeutet traumasensibler Umgang?
Traumasensibler Umgang wurde in Deutschland bereits seit dem Zweiten Weltkrieg als niedrigschwellige Methode zur Unterstützung von Kindern angewendet. Durch bedingungslosen Respekt gegenüber den Kindern, das Verständnis für die Ursachen ihres mitunter „schwierigen“ Verhaltens und durch sichere Bindungen schaffen Pädagog:innen eine Umgebung, die sicher, klar und vorhersehbar ist.
Lehrkräfte unterstützen und schützen die Kinder, indem sie sie in Entscheidungen einbeziehen und ihnen Wahlmöglichkeiten geben. Mit Struktur, Rhythmen, Ritualen und Regeln helfen Erwachsene den Kindern, destruktive Verhaltensweisen zu überwinden. Durch Spiel und Kreativität erlangen Kinder die Fähigkeit zurück, Freude zu empfinden, mobilisieren ihre eigenen Ressourcen und gewinnen Hoffnung sowie Träume für die Zukunft zurück, während sie die traumatischen Erfahrungen in ihre Lebensgeschichte integrieren.
Wie funktioniert die Schulung zum traumasensiblen Umgang?
Lehrkräfte und Schulpsycholog:innen absolvieren eine fünftägige Schulung, die mit deutschen Expert:innen entwickelt wurde. Der Workshop umfasst fünf Themenbereiche:
- Resilienz der Lehrkraft
- Grundlagen von Trauma und traumasensibler Umgang
- Interaktion mit traumatisierten Kindern
- Werkzeuge für die Traumabearbeitung und Techniken zur Selbstregulation
- Entwicklung eigener Strategien für die Arbeit in einem traumasensiblen Umfeld
Das Seminar wird von ukrainischen Expertinnen aus Psychologie und Pädagogik geleitet: Olena Glugovska, Svitlana Merkulova, Olena Ivanova und Tetiana Petrenko.
Die Projektkoordination übernehmen Iryna Ivaniuk und Liudmyla Parashchenko (AEPD, Ukraine), unterstützt durch ein Mentoring von deutschen Fachkräften für traumasensiblen Umgang.

84 teachers, psychologists and school principals from all over Ukraine, who took part in the project “Trauma-informed care for Ukrainian schools”, met on 7 December 2024 at the final online conference to present the results of the project, see and support each other.
The results have indeed exceeded all expectations –150 teachers from 75 schools from 16 regions of Ukraine took part in the trainings, but what is even more impressing, conducted more than 250 events at schools upon return – for their colleagues, students and their parents – passing on understanding of trauma and trauma-informed care instruments.
During the online conference the teachers shared their experience of work on the topic. Yana Chernihivska from Kharkiv told about the work in a unique setting of an underground school (Metroshkola), where children resume offline education after several years of online schooling due to COVID and war, and how challenging these children find studying together in a social situation. Oksana Kocherga from Lozova (Kharkiv region) shared findings and insights their school had in working online, and how they managed to bring joy back into the emotional palette of the school process. Bogdana Tsiolkovska from Kosiv (Ivano-Frankivsk region) gave an account of the work with the pedagogical team of the school helping them to increase their resilience and work on inner resources. Daria Nemchenko from Horishny Plavni (Poltava region) shared the experience of the work of their school with parents, who also taught stress-managing techniques after the training.
It was incredibly rewarding to see how inspiring all the colleagues found these short four accounts, and how much strength they draw from their community and examples of successful practices. It proves the importance of building a community of trauma-informed teachers and continuing the work on trauma-informed care in Ukrainian schools.

🌐 During a networking event for the project “Traumapädagogik an ukrainischen Schulen,” Herr Nolting from the German Foreign Office, representatives from Dialogue for Understanding, the Обʼєднання «Агенція розвитку освітньої політики, and the trainers of the seminar series came together.
✨ A key part of the meeting was presenting the project’s achievements to date: in five seminars on trauma-informed work with children and adolescents, 150 teachers from 75 Ukrainian schools received further training. These teachers have already shared their knowledge with numerous colleagues, actively contributing to improved approaches to dealing with trauma.
💬 Another important aspect of the meeting was the discussion about the project’s future and the potential to continue this successful work with support from the German Foreign Office. We are optimistic that, together, we can continue to make a meaningful contribution to supporting traumatized children and adolescents in the future. 🌱

Today the team of the "Trauma-informed care for Ukrainian schools" visited the office of Brot für die Welt in Berlin to present our project and discuss possibilities for cooperation. We are very thankful to Frau Susanne Müller and Frau Sabine Erdmann, responsible for the work in Eastern Europe, for sincere interest, attention and understanding of importance of psychosocial support to teachers and children in Ukraine.
After the meeting the trainers and coordinators ventured a time travel in three impreesive Pergamon Panorama Berlin.
