EU – Hope: The EU as well as other international organizations are believed to carry democratic values and ensure stability among their member states.
Ukrainian flag between the bars of the Russian Embassy – The Ukrainian flag as seen through the bars of the gate leading to the Russian Embassy to Georgia. It is the only flag visible in this perimeter.
Building with empty flagpole – The Russian Embassy to Georgia is not displaying the Russian flag at the pole outside. Only a metal plaque is notifying of the presence of the Russian and Swiss Embassies at this location. The Ukrainian Embassy to Georgia is visible and present across the street a few meters away.

EU – Impulses F++ck the system – In recent years euro-skepticism has been on the rise among national and European parties. Next year the European elections are coming up. Far-right parties promoting a seclusion and down-scaling of the EU are on a record high. Interest in the upcoming elections among EU citizens is at 56%, likeliness to vote at 67%.
Influence drifts – Located next to the EUMM building is the exhibition “Influence drifts”. Artist Nino Eliashvili presented an exhibition earlier in March with the topic “For Dreams About Peace”. EU presence in Georgia is present on the streets, the official embassies and delegations however are located in Vake, a wealthier district in Tbilisi.
Duty-free diplomats? In face of the current challenges and crises what are a diplomat’s obligations? Diplomats’ benefits: This logo belongs to a shop. At the entrance it states: “Shop works only for diplomats”. A space only for diplomats.

big bike in a small world. it’s about how sometimes it’s not easy for a child to fit himself in the society of adults
it’s about the joy of childhood under the supervision of a big man
What parts of me are important to me?

An article in the British newspaper „The Guardian“ described a clash on May 14 2018 between progressive and traditional, where clubs of the urban, hip youth where targeted. „In this socially conservative former Soviet country, the clubs that were raided are beacons of tolerance and progressive values. Bassiani, a cavernous concrete pleasure dome beneath the national football stadium, also operates a companion LGBT club called Horoom. The more intimate Cafe Gallery is the pioneering LGBT-friendly dance venue that first started to nurture Georgian techno culture in 2010. Same-sex sexual activity has been legal since 2000 and laws prevent discrimination on grounds of sexuality. But gay marriage remains illegal and LGBT Georgians often face hostility, so clubs such as these have become safe spaces. „The raid was not an operation against drug dealers – it was an operation against freedom,” insisted Bassiani’s co-owner Zviad Gelbakhiani, who was detained for several hours in the aftermath. Like both clubs’ other owners, he has not been charged with any criminal offence. Techno emerged earlier this decade as a mass youth movement in this small Caucasus state, and has become the soundtrack to the lives of thousands of European-oriented Georgians who want a more socially liberal future.
They are from the generation that grew up in the years after independence from the Soviet empire, immersed in the turbulent political atmosphere of a country turning away from Moscow and towards Europe. The shift was sealed by Georgia’s brief but brutal war with Russia in 2008, but the changes in the country have caused friction between liberals and conservatives, as was starkly evident on May 14.“
My pictures show „Fabrica“, a cultural centre, hostel, bar and event location and it’s surrounding area. It is one of Tbilisi‘s urban youth „places to be“. Do you see the conflict?
