Dialogue for Understanding e.V.

D4U legt den Fokus auf die Verständigung mit und Unterstützung von Menschen in Osteuropa.

Our third training on trauma-informed care for Ukrainian schools has come to an end.
The last day of the training was devoted to working with parents. In times of war all the challenges of work are aggravated by the conditions schools have to operate in, which often leads to parents’ fears and dissatisfactions – they worry about the safety of their children, they are unhappy with online education, they see how the quality of learning suffers due to sleepless nights and air alerts. However, for teachers it often means that parents hold them responsible for all the problems. We tried to see how we can build a constructive dialogue with parents, help them overcome the stress, share responsibilities and find a solution together.

And of course, our circle of gratitude at the end are already a tradition)

The day finished with a tour in the Museum of Warsaw.

We wish our participants a safe journey home!

The project is implemented in cooperation with Agency for Educational Policy Development Травмапедагогіка для українських шкіл and Warsaw Department of Education with the support of Auswärtiges Amt.

The third day of the training for Ukrainian teachers was devoted to basic principles of trauma-informed care: importance of understanding that behind every difficult behavior there is an unsatisfied need, importance of secure attachment, importance of providing an opportunity of participation in making decisions, in feeling oneself efficient, in making events as predictable as possible. The participants played outdoor games, which will be useful for stress relief in their future work with children, and visited an incredible Royal Castle.
